Chris Moneymaker has played in
a number of poker tournaments since his big win at the 2003
World Series of
Poker. Some of these poker tournaments are described in this section. Most
of these tourneys are sponsored by
Poker Stars, which is where Chris won his entry to the
WSOP.
World Poker Finals at Foxwoods
Foxwoods Casino is the largest casino in the world. So it's no surprise that
any and all poker tournaments held at Foxwoods draw enormous crowds of players
and railbirds alike. The World Poker Finals is one of the biggest and most
important tournaments on the World Poker Tour circuit of tournaments, and in
2005, 783 players paid $10,000 apiece to play in the event. The total prize pool
for the event, after including the $25,000 added by the World Poker Tour, was a
whopping $7,855,000. The first and second place winners of this event would both
win over $1 million. Nick Schulman was the 1st place winner in this event in
2005.
The next World Poker Finals at Foxwoods is scheduled for November 11 -
November 16, 2006.
WPT Invitational
The World Poker Tour Invitational has no buy-in. This doesn't mean there
isn't plenty of money to be won though; in 2006, the WPT Invitational offered a
total prize pool of over $200,000.
Barry Greenstein won the World Poker Tour Invitation for 2006 on February 24,
earning $100,000 in prize money and a $25,000 seat to the 2006 WPT Championship
event at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure
The
Caribbean Poker Adventure was an event in the Bahamas co-sponsored by
PokerStars and the World Poker Tour in 2004, 2005 and 2006. These events are
broadcast on the Travel Channel on their World Poker Tour television show.
The 2006 Caribbean Poker Adventure was held from January 4 through January
11. You can find live blogged coverage of this event on the official
